Origin of the Israeli-Palestinian Conflict

The real Israeli-Palestinian conflict started with the War of Independence. That moment, on May 15, 1948 when the Arabs invaded marked the first spark of violence against the Jewish immigration and Jewish retaliation immediately arose. This started off almost a century of fighting between these two groups. However, what caused them to suddenly invade the newly formed nation just one day after it was officially formed? The tension that built up to this war came from settlements and events that dated back to 1300 BC, when Jews first settled in the land that they claim to be rightfully theirs today.
In addition to tension building up throughout world history, many arguments that either side uses today for the right to the land come from thousands of years ago. Both sides have a vast history with this land and feel very strongly about their claims to the region of land now known as Israel.
